The will of God is not “surrendered their heart to Jesus”. (What does that really mean, anyway?) The will of God is that we BELIEVE on Jesus and what He accomplished for us at the cross. THAT is what these “Lord, Lord” people had failed to do. Instead, though they called Him “Lord”, they obviously thought their own deeds would get them heaven.

Why do ministers of light continue to preach from the Old Testament? That isn't for us. but marvel not, for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing, if his "MINISTER'S" also, be transformed as the "MINISTER'S" of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. My people perish for lack of knowledge. Shame on you.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today is February 26, 2020. Today is Ash Wednesday. Isaiah 58:1-12 will most likely be read in churches holding services today. Remember that we are but dust, and to dust we shall return. Three years ago this past Sunday (Feb. 23), my mother was returned to the earth from whence she came.

This is a very needful presentation and I thank you for posting it! When I think of the topic being addressed in this particular sermon, one illustration that often comes to me is that scene from the classic story of "Little Red Riding Hood, where Red Riding Hood herself is on her way to her grandma's house with her basket of cupcakes and a jug of lemonade, when all of the sudden, what appears to be the sweetest voice she has ever heard asks her where she is going, but that voice happens to be that of the big bad wolf and unfortunately, he beats her to her destination and eats up her grandma.
